Signal Failure Disrupts Chennai Suburban Train Services

Suburban electric train services between Chennai Beach and Tambaram were disrupted on Thursday following a signal failure, causing widespread inconvenience to commuters.
EMU services were halted at multiple locations, with trains remaining stationary for long durations between Nungambakkam, Chetpet, and Egmore. Several trains reportedly stopped one after another on the same track, leaving passengers shocked and stranded.
The disruption coincided with the cancellation of 44 suburban trains due to ongoing maintenance work at Chennai Egmore station, compounding the impact. Lakhs of daily commuters were affected, while transport agencies struggled to manage the sudden surge in demand.
