Polling for the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026 is underway across all 234 constituencies, with a voter turnout of 82.24% recorded as of 5:00 PM.
Voting began at 7:00 AM, and voters across the state have been actively participating in large numbers. The turnout steadily increased through the day:
- 11:00 AM - 37.56%
- 1:00 PM - 56.81%
- 3:00 PM - 70%
- 5:00 PM - 82.24%
Tamil Nadu has a total of 5.73 crore voters, including:
- 2.80 crore men
- 2.93 crore women
- 7,728 third-gender voters
- Around 14.5 lakh first-time voters
For the election, authorities have set up 75,064 polling booths across 33,133 locations, with over 1.06 lakh voting machines deployed.
