Chennai Weather Suddenly Changes After Heatwave; Dust Storm Hits Marina Beach

After several days of intense “Kathiri Veyil” heatwave conditions, Chennai and its surrounding suburbs witnessed a dramatic weather change on Saturday morning, bringing cloudy skies, cool breeze, and pleasant temperatures across the city.

Many parts of Chennai experienced overcast conditions along with strong surface winds from the early hours of the day. The sudden drop in heat brought major relief to residents who had been facing scorching summer temperatures over the past week.

A powerful dust storm also hit Marina Beach, where strong gusty winds caused sand to sweep across the shoreline. Visitors, morning walkers, and beachgoers faced difficulties due to the heavy dust-filled winds.

Officials have advised the public to avoid visiting Marina Beach until weather conditions stabilize. Police personnel stationed at the beach are actively clearing crowds and moving people away from the shoreline as a safety measure.

Authorities also issued announcements through loudspeakers warning that sea waves are stronger than usual and wind speeds continue to rise along the coast, resulting in severe dust winds near the beach area. People present near the shore were instructed to leave immediately for their safety.
