₹9.8 Crore Modern Market with 300 Shops to Open Soon in Chennai
The Greater Chennai Corporation is set to open a new modern market complex built at a cost of ₹9.8 crore to improve facilities for traders and the public. The market is being constructed on an area of 27,879 square feet with several modern amenities.
The construction work began on May 29, 2025, under the corporation’s capital fund project. The market complex is being developed with 300 shops, modern toilets, a sewage treatment plant, and parking facilities, ensuring better infrastructure for vendors and visitors.
Although the project was originally scheduled to be completed within two years, officials accelerated the work and managed to finish the construction within just nine months.
The upcoming market is expected to provide improved trading facilities and has already received a positive response from local traders. The new market complex is expected to be opened for public use soon, benefiting both vendors and residents in the area.
