Tamil Nadu`s government polytechnic colleges are seeing a surge in admissions as they kick off their enrollment process following the announcement of Class 10 and 12 results.

According to a senior official from the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), over 2,000 students have already signed up for diploma courses, with the registration deadline set for May 25.

The DoTE, tasked with managing admissions to diploma courses, has released a detailed booklet to assist prospective students. This booklet offers insights into government polytechnic colleges across various districts, including course offerings, intake capacity, and fee structures.

These colleges collectively provide 25 courses, operating on a semester system spread over three years.

To ensure the polytechnic education system remains adaptable and responsive to diverse workforce needs, a multipoint entry and credit system has been put in place.

In the previous academic year, Tamil Nadu introduced Diploma courses in Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering in the Tamil medium at five government polytechnic colleges located in Coimbatore, Madurai, Tirchy, Nagercoil, and Central Polytechnic College, Chennai, with the aim of boosting admissions.

Tamil Nadu is home to 54 government polytechnic colleges, along with three affiliated colleges, four women’s colleges, nine part-time colleges, and six sandwich colleges spread across the state.
