LPG e-KYC Mandatory for Domestic Gas Consumers in India Amid Supply Concerns
The Government of India has made e-KYC verification mandatory for all domestic LPG consumers to ensure proper distribution of cooking gas cylinders. Consumers must complete Aadhaar-based biometric verification through their LPG distributor or official apps to continue booking LPG cylinders without interruption.
The move comes amid concerns over possible LPG supply disruptions due to ongoing tensions in West Asia, which could affect fuel transportation and availability. To manage the situation and prevent misuse of LPG connections, authorities have introduced strict verification rules for domestic consumers.
Officials have advised all LPG users to complete the e-KYC process at the earliest through their gas agency or authorized service centers. This step will help eliminate duplicate connections, improve transparency in LPG distribution, and ensure that genuine households receive uninterrupted gas supply.
The government also warned that strict action will be taken against illegal storage and black-market sale of LPG cylinders as part of efforts to maintain stable supply across the country.
