Heavy Rain Likely in Tamil Nadu from June 26; Chennai May Receive Thunderstorms

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has forecast heavy rainfall in several districts of Tamil Nadu from June 26 onwards due to an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the Lakshadweep region.

Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is likely across parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal between June 23 and June 25. The Western Ghats districts and parts of North Tamil Nadu may experience stronger rainfall activity during this period.

According to the forecast, Coimbatore, The Nilgiris and Theni districts are likely to receive heavy rain on June 26. Heavy rainfall may continue on June 27 and June 28 in districts including Tirunelveli, Coimbatore, The Nilgiris, Dindigul, Theni, Tenkasi, Kanyakumari, Madurai and Virudhunagar. On June 29, heavy rain is expected at isolated places in The Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni and Virudhunagar districts.

For Chennai and its suburbs, the weather department has predicted a partly cloudy sky with chances of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms during evening or night hours on June 23 and 24. The city`s maximum temperature is expected to remain around 38°C to 39°C, while the minimum temperature may hover around 28°C to 29°C.

Residents in the affected districts are advised to stay updated with the latest weather alerts and take necessary precautions during periods of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
