To facilitate smooth travel for the public during the legislative assembly elections, a total of 14,508 special buses have been arranged across Tamil Nadu, according to officials.
The initiative aims to help passengers travel to their hometowns for voting and return to Chennai and other cities without inconvenience. Along with regular bus services, additional special buses have been deployed to manage the surge in travel demand.
Special Bus Arrangements for Weekend Travel
Following the elections, a large number of passengers are expected to return, and special arrangements have been made:
Saturday
- 2,092 regular buses
- 1,295 additional buses
- 2,500 special buses from major towns
Sunday
- 2,092 regular buses
- 3,184 special buses to Chennai
- 3,345 special buses to other destinations
In total, 14,508 buses will be operated to ensure smooth passenger movement.
High Passenger Bookings Reported
Travel demand remains high, with advance bookings showing strong numbers:
Saturday: 19,676 passengers
Sunday: 47,001 passengers
This reflects the significant movement of people returning after casting their votes.
