Postal Ballots for 234 Constituencies Distributed Across Tamil Nadu Ahead of Counting
Ahead of the vote counting process for the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026, election authorities have initiated the distribution of postal ballots for all 234 constituencies across the state.
To streamline the process, a centralized distribution system was established in Tiruchirappalli, where postal ballots collected from across Tamil Nadu were sorted and dispatched district-wise. This step was taken to avoid logistical challenges and ensure timely delivery to respective constituencies.
Centralized Distribution in Trichy
A special facility was set up near the central bus stand in Tiruchirappalli, where all postal ballots received from election officials and staff were brought together. These ballots were then segregated constituency-wise and district-wise before being handed over to authorized officials.
Phase-Wise Distribution Process
First Phase (April 13): Postal ballots were dispatched to respective districts.
Second Phase (April 20 onwards): Sorting and redistribution of ballots began.
Final Phase (April 28): Postal ballots for 38 districts were successfully distributed to designated officers.
The process was officially inaugurated by senior election authorities in the presence of district officials.
Participation of Officials and Representatives
Election officers, coordination officials, and representatives from recognized political parties, along with candidates’ agents, were present during the distribution process to ensure transparency and accountability.
Secure Handling and Dispatch
After sorting, postal ballots were handed over to district-level coordination officers, who transported them safely to their respective districts. Proper verification and acknowledgment procedures were followed during the handover.
