EMU Train Delays at MGR Chennai Central: Hundreds of Passengers Stranded Due to Maintenance Work

Hundreds of commuters were left stranded at MGR Chennai Central railway station on Wednesday evening as suburban EMU train services on the Arakkonam, Tiruvallur, and Gummidipoondi routes were delayed.

The delays were caused by ongoing maintenance work at the Arakkonam railway workshop, resulting in trains arriving behind schedule and heavy crowding on platforms during peak hours.

Passengers reported long waiting times and disruption to their daily travel plans as several services operated late.

Southern Railway stated that maintenance and infrastructure improvement works are currently underway across the suburban railway network. Due to these works, some EMU services have been delayed, while a few express and passenger train services have been partially cancelled.

Railway authorities have advised passengers to check train schedules and service updates before commencing their journey.
