Southern Railway Adds 5 Extra Coaches to Tiruchendur–Chennai Chendur Express

Passengers travelling between Tiruchendur and Chennai will benefit from enhanced travel capacity as Southern Railway has announced the addition of five extra coaches to the popular Chendur Express.

Until now, the train operated with 18 coaches. With the latest revision, the train will run with 23 coaches, significantly increasing passenger accommodation on the route.

The additional coaches include one AC 2-Tier coach, two AC 3-Tier coaches, and two Sleeper Class coaches. Railway officials said the expansion will enable more than 350 additional passengers to travel on the service every day.

The move is expected to provide relief to passengers, especially during weekends, holidays, and festival seasons when demand for tickets on the Tiruchendur–Chennai route remains high.
