Shocking!! More kids have been infected in this second COVID wave in Chennai - Heath experts warn parents to be very careful

Amidst the ongoing Covid-19 surge, there is now an increase in the numbers of infected children and this has shocked many. It must not be forgotten that in the first Covid-19 wave last year more elder people got affected.
It was brought out by Dr. S. Balasubramanian, paediatrician belonging to Kanchi Kamakoti Childs Trust Hospital that in the second wave the covid-019 cases have increased among children. At present 8 to 10% of the children have been affected and soon more would be affected by the MIS-C or Multi System Inflammatory Syndrome related to Coronavirus infection.
There are more chances of kids getting exposed to the virus and hence the health experts have asked the parents to take huge care of their kids. It is now said that kids in the age group 5 to 12 have been affected mostly in this second wave. The Coronavirus infected kids would show certain symptoms like fever, cold, body pain etc and there are no other major health complications witnessed in these kids. In 2020, the number of kids who passed away due to this deadly infection was 1percent and now also this has been the same and this inspite of the fact that kids are getting more infected now than last year.
As per Dr. Mohan Kumar, paediatrician, SMCH, Chennai the kids get recovered very fast and they get discharged in a week. It is now revealed by some doctors that if anyone in the family gets infected with Covid-19 then the kids in that house must be separated from them. The kids must be taken to the hospitals if they also get infected by Covid-19 and no medication must be done for them.
