Healthy and young people below the age of 40 are succumbing to COVID in Chennai now

Don�t be overconfident that you would not get Covid-19 infection if you are below 40 years of age and hale and healthy without any co-morbid conditions.
The shocking truth is that many now in the above mentioned category are getting affected by the deadly Coronavirus infection and dying also. This has been revealed by data from the DPH.
It must be noted that on 10th January 2021 toll from Coivid-19 reached 12222 and out of those around 18% or 2084 were without any co-morbid conditions in them. It is learnt that by 9th May 2021 these persons contributed to 6063 deaths out of total 15648 deaths that is 39%. Yesterday, 11th May 2021, as many as 298 died in TN out of those 78 did not have any co-morbid condition in them.
KMCH Dean, Dr. P. Vasanthamani spoke about how in absolute numbers deaths are still high among people above 50 years of age and among those with uncontrolled BP/Diabetes etc. She added that in the last 4 to 6weeeks more youngsters with good health are being admitted to ICUs. Information is that on Tuesday 5 out of 298 who died due to Covid-19 were just in their 20�s and they were without any co-morbid conditions in them.
