Over 1.01 Crore Passengers Travelled in Chennai Metro in March 2026
Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) continues to be a preferred mode of transport for city commuters, offering safe, efficient, and reliable services. In March 2026, a total of 1,01,97,604 passengers travelled on Chennai Metro trains, reflecting strong public usage.
Among the days in March, March 13, 2026 recorded the highest single-day ridership, with as many as 3,90,306 passengers using the metro services.
CMRL has been actively promoting digital and cashless travel options. Commuters can avail a 20% discount on ticketing services such as NCMC cards and digital QR tickets through platforms like WhatsApp (+91 83000 86000), Paytm, PhonePe, and the digital store value pass available exclusively on the CMRL mobile app. However, this discount is not applicable for single journey paper QR tickets purchased at ticket counters.
