The Tamil Nadu government has issued a major order to strengthen anti-drug enforcement by establishing 65 dedicated Anti-Narcotics Police Units across the state.

According to the announcement, 37 anti-drug police stations will be set up across all districts in Tamil Nadu, while an additional 28 units will function in police districts under the nine city police commissionerates.

The decision was reportedly among the first official files signed by Vijay after assuming office as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The move is aimed at intensifying the crackdown on narcotics distribution and drug-related crimes across the state.

The newly formed anti-drug units are expected to focus on preventing the spread of narcotics among students and youth while strengthening surveillance, investigation, and enforcement activities.

Officials believe the initiative will help improve coordination between district police units and city commissionerates in tackling drug trafficking networks and illegal substance abuse.
