The admission process for undergraduate courses in Tamil Nadu Government Arts and Science Colleges for the academic year 2026-27 has officially begun today. Students can now apply online for admission to first-year UG courses in 181 government arts and science colleges across the state.
According to the Commissionerate of Collegiate Education, eligible students can submit their applications through the official website, TNGASA Portal, until May 29, 2026.
Over 1.26 Lakh Seats Available Across Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu government colleges are offering admissions in 159 different undergraduate courses with a total of 1,26,959 seats available statewide.
Seat distribution details:
First phase admissions – 1,01,022 seats
Second phase admissions – 25,937 seats
Students can choose their preferred colleges and courses while submitting the online application.
Application Fee Details
The application and registration fee has been fixed at ₹50.
General category students – ₹50
SC/ST students – ₹2 only
SC and ST students are exempted from paying the ₹48 application fee and need to pay only the registration charge.

To assist students who do not have internet access, admission facilitation centres have been established in all government arts and science colleges across Tamil Nadu.
