Shell Raises Fuel Prices Again; Diesel Sees Sharp Jump

Fuel prices have gone up again, with Shell India announcing a fresh hike in petrol and diesel rates across its outlets from April 1. The move comes at a time when global crude oil prices are staying above the $100 mark, putting pressure on fuel retailers.

This increase follows a similar step by Nayara Energy, making it the second round of price hikes from private fuel companies in recent days.

Petrol Prices

In Bengaluru, petrol prices have been raised by ₹7.41 per litre.

- Regular petrol now costs ₹119.85 per litre
- The ‘Power’ variant is priced at ₹129.85 per litre

In Chennai, petrol prices are slightly lower:

- Regular petrol is now ₹117.80 per litre
- ‘Power’ petrol costs ₹127.80 per litre

Diesel Prices See a Big Increase

Diesel has seen a much sharper rise compared to petrol. Prices have been increased by ₹25.01 per litre:

- Regular diesel now costs ₹123.52 per litre
- Premium diesel is priced at ₹133.52 per litre

This is one of the biggest hikes in diesel prices by Shell in recent times.

What’s Driving the Increase?

The main reason behind the hike is the rise in global crude oil prices, which has been influenced by ongoing tensions in the Middle East, especially involving the US, Israel, and Iran. These developments have disrupted supply and pushed costs higher.

What to Expect Next

With crude oil prices still high, there’s a possibility that fuel prices could go up further. However, there’s no official word on that yet.
