Tiruvannamalai Temple Introduces Free AC Bus Service for Girivalam Devotees
In a major relief for devotees, the temple administration of the famous Annamalaiyar Temple has introduced a free air-conditioned bus service along the 14-km Girivalam path.
Every day, thousands of devotees visit Tiruvannamalai and perform Girivalam (circumambulation) around the sacred hill. However, elderly people, pregnant women, and those with health issues often find it difficult to complete the long walk.
To address this long-standing demand, the temple authorities have launched AC buses for comfortable travel along the Girivalam route. This initiative has brought immense joy and convenience to devotees.
Service Highlights:
- Total 5 AC buses in operation
- 4 buses purchased at a cost of ₹1.56 crore
- 1 bus donated by a benefactor
- Each bus has 34 seating capacity
- Only seated travel allowed (no standing passengers)
This new facility ensures that all devotees, regardless of age or physical condition, can complete the Girivalam journey with ease and comfort.
