The Tamil Nadu government has approved the procurement of 220 air-conditioned electric mini buses to provide last-mile connectivity from Chennai Metro Rail stations to nearby areas. This initiative aims to make public transport more convenient for commuters traveling through the Chennai Metro network.

These AC electric mini buses will operate as feeder services, helping passengers easily travel from metro stations to residential and commercial areas that are not directly connected by rail.

Metro Stations Identified for Feeder Services

The following Chennai Metro stations have been identified for the first phase of the connectivity project:

- Thirumangalam

- Vadapalani

- Koyambedu

- Guindy

- Alandur

- Meenambakkam

- OTA Nanganallur

- St. Thomas Mount

- Vannarapettai

- Wimco Nagar

- Chennai Airport

Boost for Public Transport

The introduction of electric feeder buses will help reduce traffic congestion, promote eco-friendly transport, and improve access to the Chennai Metro Rail system. It will also make it easier for commuters to reach metro stations from nearby neighbourhoods.

The project is part of the government’s effort to strengthen sustainable urban mobility and enhance last-mile connectivity in Chennai.
