Natural Sugar Substitutes

It is true that while losing excess body weight or while controlling blood sugar levels etc we must control the intake of sugar. Natural sugars present in many fruits might be good for our health but the added sugars present in many processed foods could lead to many issues in us. To reduce the intake of sugars in the food, many people switch to other sugar substitutes.

Consuming sugar substitutes like artificial sweeteners etc would be dangerous for health. Therefore, it is advised to use natural substitutes of sugars.

Various natural sugar substitutes that we could consume are

Intake of honey:

For treatment of many diseases and health ailments etc, consumption of honey is superb. Without harming the heath of us, honey could add sweetness to the foods and beverages etc. The presence of antioxidants in honey could reduce free radical activity in us. This would cure issues like sore throat etc.

Intake of jaggery:

In many northern places in India, people consume jaggery after meals when they get the urge to eat something sweet. It must be noted that jaggery could be powdered and added to foods and beverages.

Intake of stevia leaves:

The stevia leaves are known for their distinct flavour and they make a great natural sweetener. These leaves are still not as popular as jaggery or honey. The truth is we could add sweetness to the foods or beverages by including stevia leaves and there would not be any side effects.

Intake of fruits:

It is believed that fruits like dates and raisins would add sweetness to the foods. Our body needs many nutrients for various body functions and this would be done by intake of fruits. It is known that fruits are rich in nutrients. Intake of fruits would ensure that we do not consume empty calories.
