Is your smartphone affecting your sleep?

Are you finding trouble in falling asleep? Well, do you extensively use your smartphone device before bedtime? This is the hormone responsible for the natural circadian rhythm i.e. the sleep and wake cycle. This hormone is also called as the sleeping hormone or darkness hormone. With exposure to blue light, there is improper production of melatonin hormone. Hence this insufficient melatonin leaves you awake and causes insomnia ultimately.

An alert brain – as there is growth in technology, we have smartphone devices among the top most priorities in our daily life. We are focused on checking mails, viewing interesting videos, surf through websites and social media sites, etc. And we do all of it right as we lie on the bed at night. This will put your brain in a trap called technology. This keeps you alert all the time. This alertness is directly the cause for sleepless night times.

There are a few other elements as well that causes sleepless nights.

As you check smartphones in between your night time sleep hours, it also hinders your sleep. When you receive phone calls or messages or get reminders in the middle of night, they hinder your sleep too. You will get adversely affected with the smartphone radiation. Hence the only measure you ought to take is to stay away from smartphone devices while at night.

The game of light and dark – throughout the day, you need light and throughout night, you need light. Sleep is directly associated with being dark all around. As we got the benefits of electricity, we got the entire relationship of light and dark changed. This slowly changed the pattern of sleep.

These days, it has in fact become a trend to stay awake all the time. However note that this is impacting your health largely. This leads to weight gain, depression and many other associated disorders and problems.

So, how can you fall asleep easier?
Get rid of your mobile devices as the first step. This is very important during night hours. Turn off your phone right before 30 minutes of your daily bedtime so that there is no kind of disturbance before or while you are asleep.

The lighting in your home should be such that it facilitates your sleep. Make it as dim as possible well about 1 hour ahead of your bedtime. This will wind you down and prepare you for the night sleep. It will also boost melatonin production and put you asleep sooner.

Proper healthy diet is essential. This should include fruits, vegetables and greens. Have more of water as per your thirst. Avoid drinking excessive water before bedtime.

Make your own routine such that you have fixed sleep time and wakeup time. This will promote a healthy habit and have your mind relaxed and cool

Remember that each one of us need good, healthy sleep every day failing which you will feel inactive and lazy and may experience headache along with many other physical and mental issues. You need enough darkness in your room. First of all, completely get rid of mobile devices at night. Also during day time, make sure to reduce the usage.
