For the allocation of government quota and administrative quota seats in the private medical colleges across TN for the academic year 2025-26, a consultative meeting under the chairmanship of Mr. M. Subramanian, health minister took place at the Tamil Nadu Government Multi-speciality Hospital at the Omandurar Government estate in Chennai. It must be recalled that in the past applications for UG medical courses admissions were received only after the NEET results were announced. Truth is that when there is a delay in the declaration of NEET results, then the time limit for the aspiring students to apply for the UG medical courses gets reduced. This has led to many difficulties for medical aspirants in the past.
It is noteworthy that in this academic year if the applications for the UG medical courses are received after the announcement of NEET results then the time limit for the medical aspirants would get extended. In addition, there would be more time to check the applications. In this scenario from 6th June the applications for UG medical and dental courses are being accepted. In the consultative meeting, there was discussion regarding the extension of the time limit for the students who wished to submit their applications after the announcements of NEET results.
It was shocking to note that last year under the NRI quota as many as six students submitted fake documents to get admission to MBBS courses. The police were also informed regarding this and it created a huge controversy. This year, the applications from the students would be received in advance for verification of their certificates.
Others who participated in this meeting were Dr. P. Senthilkumar, principal secretary to the government and Dr. J. Sangumani, director of medical education and research plus few others.
