Till the Coronavirus infection pandemic began to spread in the state of TN, many parents did not show interest in admitting their kids in the government schools. Things have changed now and people have begun to discover things that are within their reach.

In the post Covid times, many parents have come forward to admit their kids in the government schools in Chennai and in the state. The Coronavirus pandemic has revealed that the government schools are on par with the private schools in TN. The teaching methodology and the presence of infrastructure at many government schools now have become similar to that in the private schools.

It is superb to note that the volunteers like elected local body members and PTA of each school have played huge roles in transforming the overall development in the schools. It must be noted that the local body elected members put huge efforts in campaigning for admission in the govt schools. They have even drafted plans to make the government schools on par with the private schools. To attract the parents and students, uniforms were made on par with those in the private schools. The development of the government schools were carried out with the help of funds from CSR or Corporate Social Responsibility.

Demand was made (at the consultative meeting that took place during the beginning of the year) to  facilitate more smart classrooms plus to improve the schools infrastructure by building additional classrooms and toilets etc. This happened at the Trichy City Corporation.

Headmaster of Pirattiyur corporation middle school, K. Asha devi mentioned that by smart classrooms the students would be able to understand even the complex subjects. She added that the parents and students who are more technology oriented would join the government schools with smart classrooms etc.

For smart classrooms, components like touch screen, projector, audio/video devices, audio/video devices were readied. Information is that an amount of Rs 4.12 crores was allotted to convert ordinary classrooms into smart classrooms. According to a government school teacher, many parents since the previous academic year onwards have been admitting their kids in the government schools.
