Uniform education among all the universities and its affiliated colleges in Tamil Nadu!!
The second year students of courses like BA, B.Com, BBA and BCA etc in TN would be surprised to know that they would be studying Tamil language also apart from other subjects .
It is known that Tamil language has been made compulsory for the first year students studying in various arts and sciences colleges in the state. It must be taken into note that at present most Universities have not included Tamil language in the second year as the decision was left to the discretion of the management. Except for Bharathidasan university, Mother Teresa Women University and Periyar University, other TN universities have not introduced Tamil language for the second year students.This was mentioned by a senior officer belonging to the Higher Education Department.
He then spoke about how the main objective behind making Tamil compulsory for the second year students also was to provide uniform education among all the universities and its affiliated colleges across the state. From the coming semester exams, the Tamil language would be made compulsory for the second year students.To cater the higher education of several students, there are 13 state run universities available now.
The educational institutions in TN have been asked to take necessary steps to introduce Tamil language in the second year also. Point is that the management of the institutions have been asked for detailed reports . Information gathered is that the proposed 10 arts and sciences colleges in TN would take steps to introduce Tamil language for the second year students.
The senior officer explained that the Tamil language would be common for all the universities in the state and the semester exams would also be common for the students. In the future, TN language might also be introduced in the second year in technical institutions too.
