Be it any traditional occasion or celebration, Sakkarai Pongal and Medhu Vadai are prepared as offerings to the shrine at Hindu households. It is a delicious, lip-smacking gourmet that children love too. Check out the preparation method and required ingredients below:
Required Ingredients:
� Raw rice � � cup
� Moong Dal � 3 tablespoons
� Jaggery � 1 cup (this has to be reduced to � cup)
� Cashew nuts � 10 Nos
� Raisins � few
� Cardamom powder � a pinch
� Ghee � 3 to 4 tablespoons
� Milk � � cup
Procedure:
Step 1 � rinse the rice and moong dal and soak for about half an hour
Step 2 � pressure cook both rice and dal together in a cooker
Step 3 � take a pan and add a tablespoon of ghee. Fry cashew nuts and raisins until they turn golden brown, and keep it aside
Step 4 � Take a pan and add jaggery to it. Add a few tablespoons of water. Keep stirring intermittently. Once it gets melted fully, filter out the impurities present
Step 5 � open the pressure cooker and smash the content. To this, add boiled milk
Step 6 � Add the rice mixture to the jaggery syrup. Mix thoroughly to form a fine mixture without any lumps
Step 7 � now, turn down the flame and allow the mixture to get coked
Step 8 - add ghee and cardamom powder and mix well
Step 9 � at last, add the fried cashews and raisins and serve hot!
