Kauvery hospital in Chennai is highly popular and HAMSA rehabilitation centre is a unit of this hospital.

Now, HAMSA rehabilitation centre has announced the launch of an intervention centre for kids with developmental, cognitive, behavioural and physical issues etc. This Thoraipakkam based rehabilitation centre would provide intervention and therapy programmes for kids with spine and brain injury and other neurological issues. Various neurological conditions are autism, ADHD, developmental delay and learning difficulties, speech disorders, Down`s syndrome and cerebral palsy etc.

It must be noted that children with multiple issues have special and unique therapy needs. For the well being of these kids, parents and family, schools and teachers, paediatric and rehab doctors plus therapists like physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, psychologists, special educators, nutritionists and paediatric nurses etc play their roles. Complex requirements of the kids would have to be addressed.

The therapy would be made interesting as many technological developments have been going on these days. It is superb to note that the Hamsa rehabilitation centre in Chennai has got many advanced equipment and gadgets that are activity based. Artificial intelligence or AI, motion sensor capture and Virtual Reality etc have been used to make the kids more involved. By this, parents and caregivers would find it easy.

As per the MD of HAMSA rehabilitation centre, Dr. G. Balamurali early identification and intervention are very important for progress in addressing various above said conditions in the kids. He added that these days with parents working and having little time to spend with their kids, identification of various issues in the kids gets delayed. He concluded that the rehabilitation centre would address such issues and arrange appropriate therapies at earlier stages.

While their kid undergoes therapy at the rehabilitation centre, the parents would not feel bored because of the fact that the centre has got an internet facility plus cafe etc.

Dr. Maria Fathima Josephine, lead consultant at HAMSA rehabilitation centre spoke about how parents must also be educated on the programme as they spend most time with their kids. The parents would be able to monitor their kids closely through the confidence gained through the programme.
