Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) plans to conduct the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) in the last week of July!!

Posted on: 04/Jun/2022 3:24:43 PM
As per the central governments Free Mandatory Education Rights Act, a pass in the TET (Teachers Eligibility Test has been mandatory for middle-level teachers from 1st Standard to 8th Standard, and graduate teachers.

As per the Rules and Regulations of the National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE), the Teachers Eligibility Test MUST be conducted EVERY YEAR!

However, TET was not conducted in Tamil Nadu over the last 2 years 2020 & 2021 due to the raging spread of the coronavirus pandemic waves 1 & 2!

The Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) announced that the TET would be conducted this year as the impact/intensity of the coronavirus pandemic came down.

Subsequently, the announcement for TET was released in March and applications were received ONLINE.

6.33 Lakhs applications received!

So far, for the middle-level teachers Paper-1 and Graduates Test Paper-2, a total of 6.33 Lakhs applications have been received.

However, in the announcement released, the date and time of the examination and whether it would be online or offline mode were not mentioned!

The candidates who have applied for the Teachers Eligibility test have been preparing through the private teaching centres as well as on their efforts.

But they have been somewhat depressed and disappointed as there has been no clear-cut information regarding the date and time of TET!

In this situation, a senior official from the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) shared: We have planned to conduct TET in the last week of July or 1st week of August.

It is worth noting here that in the next stage, for the appointment of the middle-level teachers and the graduate teachers, another competitive examination will be conducted!

As a larger number of teachers are expected to retire from duty this year, it is expected that the vacancies of teachers will be filled up quite fast!
