The Coronavirus infection pandemic has been making the lives of the students difficult.
The students have been learning mostly through online mode and this inspite of poor internet facilities in many places in Tamil Nadu. It is now brought out that the government would launch 2 more education channels for the students and these channels would have interactive teaching facilities.
It must be remembered that the previous government had launched Kakvi Tholaikatchi in the year 2019 for the first time for the students in a small studio at Anna Centenary Library. Truth is that just a few educational programmes were aired on this channel. Many government school students who did not have any access to the online classes due to lack of internet facilities etc got benefited during the first and second lockdown due to the e-lectures in the educational channel. It must be noted that the private school students have access to the internet facilities etc and they have this advantage over the government school students in the remote places in Tamil Nadu.
Initially this Kalvi Tholaikatchi channel aired just 30 education based programmes and now it is airing more than 1500 programmes including lectures, interviews with academicians, students inventions, question and answer sessions for classes for classes 2 to 12 etc.
As per a senior officer belonging to the school education department, the government is having plans to launch 2 more education based channels for the students. Five high tech studios would also be set up by the TN government at a cost of Rs 2.5crores.
