Posted on: 15/Aug/2020 10:06:25 AM
Few days back, class 10 results were announced and it grabbed many eyeballs.

This time around, there was no public examination conducted for the class 10 students of TN and they were given marks based on the performances in the school examinations plus on their attendance. It is common knowledge that class 10 public examination could not be held this year for the TN school students due to the lockdown imposed for Coronavirus threat.

On Friday, 14th August, the school education minister Mr. K.A. Sengottaiyan stated that in the evaluation and awarding marks for the class 10 students there has been no discrepancy.

He explained about how there are few students who have secured lower marks than expected and they have raised issues now regarding discrepancies etc.

The minister was making his presence felt in the function to release water from Bhavani Sagar Dam in Erode. He made it clear that there has been no shortcoming in the evaluation process of the tenth class students in TN.

As per the school education minister, marks were awarded based on the performances of the students in their quarterly examination, half yearly examination plus taking into account the students` attendances. Revaluation would be carried out for those students who have doubts about their marks and they could apply.

Information is that parents and students were not satisfied with the marks obtained and have besieged a couple of private schools in the last few days demanding more marks. It is now said that the school education ministers clarification has come in the wake of the above said incidents.

It must be taken into account that the parents and students alleged that the best performing schools evaluate quarterly and half yearly exams strictly to motivate the students to work harder. Point is these students would have scored well in their public examinations.
