The schools have reopened in Tamil Nadu and the new academic year is going on.
To improve the pass percentage and average marks for the next academic year, the School education Department has ordered a plan of action for high and higher secondary schools across Tamil Nadu.
On Tuesday, 24th June 2025, a circular was issued by Mr. S. Kannappan, director of school education urging to focus on providing adequate support to schools and teachers. The main aim would be to improve the pass percentage and average marks for the next academic year.
As per the circular from the director of school education chief educational officers or CEOs and district educational officers or DEOs must analyse the performance of their districts to identify suitable plans for improvement.
Point to be noted is that for rolling out an action plan several reports have been provided and these include state, district and school performance reports etc.
Review meetings:
It has been mentioned that all the CEOs and DEOs must conduct review meetings with all the high schools and higher secondary schools heads, implement and monitor an action plan, and mobilise local resources to support schools.
Recently, the school education department grabbed attention when it conducted a state level achievement survey or SLAS. It is now said that the above mentioned step has been taken after the survey. It was found out in the survey that the achievement in subjects like Tamil, Maths, Science and Social Sciences were higher than the state and national averages.
