It is well known that the TN government has announced the reopening of the schools for the students studying in the classes from 10th to 12th.

Now, the parents as well as the academicians have urged the school education department to provide the details about the reduced syllabus due to academic loss. This would help them to prepare for the new academic session.

It was brought out by the TN Teachers Association (the largest organisation representing the teachers) that the authorities must immediately publish the new syllabus so that the teachers would be able to prepare well. The association appreciated the decision of reduction in the syllabus is known.

As per Mr. PK. Illamaran, president of the association, said that the reduction in the syllabus must be informed to all the schools after reopening of the schools and the students must know about the syllabus reduction. Sending the deleted portions of the subjects through index wise was expected from the TN government.

A home maker from Chennai, whose kids were studying in the classes 10 and 12 in Pammal based private school, spoke about how the parents must also be informed about the reduction in the syllabus. It was mentioned by another parent from Tambaram that if the details about the reduced syllabus was known before the re-opening of the schools then it would be superb. He highlighted that the government must insist the schools to issue a copy of the reduced syllabus.

It must not be forgotten that an expert committee that was formed to look into the academic loss a couple of months back was asked to give a report inside 10 days about the truncated syllabus. It was then extended by a few more weeks later.

Truth is that there has been no official word since then regarding the submission of the report by the committee. This was as per Mr. Prince Gajendra Babu, secretary, state platform for the common school system- Tamil Nadu (SPCSS-TN). He was of the view that the state government must immediately clarify the portions that would not be there for the board exams for the students.
