The students studying class 12 in the state of Tamil Nadu would be writing their board examinations from the month of March. The latest news is the government has changed the question pattern for class 12 board examination. Point to be noted is the multiple choice questions or MCQ in Part- A has been replaced with fill in the blanks, assertion-reason, match the following and similar questions. Earlier in this month of January model question papers were released by the SCERT or State Council for Educational Research and Training. It must be taken into account that the model papers did not include the new pattern that was released by the TNDGE or Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations.
In TN the admissions for engineering, arts and science colleges are done using plus two marks and it is now said that this last minute change in the question paper pattern would create huge impact on the marks. Every year in the months of March-April more than 8.5 lakh students studying in the state board write HSC or Higher Secondary Certificate examination is known. Earlier the government made many heads turn when it reduced the marks per subject from the 200 to 100 and the exam duration by 30 minutes. Now this change in the question paper pattern by the government has surprised many.
A student belonging to a government school in Egmore expressed his unhappiness and said their batch was the unluckiest batch. He then hinted about the disadvantages when attending interviews for college admissions or for the jobs in the future. He spoke about how the seniors and juniors are having advantage than their batch of students. The objective section of the question paper helps a student to score centum and now because of some changes it would be tough to score centum than in the past and the toppers would be affected.
As per Mr. Prabhudoss of TN Post Graduate Association, practical examinations begin in the first week of February and after that there would not be time available to interact with the students or train them. Instructions could be given to the students but that would not be enough.
