During the first week of March, the Central Board of Secondary Education shall conduct Class 10 and 12 exams. The earlier plan was to reschedule the exam to February, but things have now changed. The exam is also set to get wrapped up within a month rather than extending it to 45 or 50 days, say reports. This might be concerning the students who are set to appear for the exam, as they will have little gap between exams.
There were proposals to reschedule the exam to February so that the examiners will have enough time to check the answer scripts, giving a push to the error-free evaluation.
There were a number of CBSE-affiliated schools that raised voice about this rescheduling. The board however said no move will be made without consulting the stakeholders.
Announcement about the actual exam duration is awaited still. According to sources, shorter exam duration indicates earlier result announcement.
The exams are likely to be started by first week of March. On March 1, the exams might not start due to Holi. Things however are getting finalized one by one. The exam will be conducted within a short period so that more time for evaluation will be available, said a senior CBSE official.
There are about 10.76 lakh applications received so far out of which 10.20 have appeared and those who cleared is 8.24 lakh. Class-10 students will also have to take up the exam. And there will be no option for them to choose between board exams and school assessment. They should mandatorily take up the test for moving on to class-11.
