Tamil Nadu Announces Special Buses for Weekend and Summer Holidays from April 17 - 19
The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation has announced the operation of special bus services across Tamil Nadu in view of the upcoming weekend rush and summer holidays.
According to the official statement, additional buses will be operated on April 17, 18, and 19, 2026, as a large number of passengers are expected to travel from Chennai to various parts of the state.
Special Bus Operations from Chennai
Special services will be operated from key bus terminals including Kilambakkam Bus Terminus, Koyambedu Omni Bus Stand, and Madhavaram Bus Terminus.
From Kilambakkam:
- 295 buses on April 17
- 310 buses on April 18
From Koyambedu:
- 55 buses each on April 17 and 18
From Madhavaram:
- 20 buses each on both days
Major Routes Covered
Buses from Chennai will connect to key destinations such as:
Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchirappalli, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur, and Bengaluru.
Officials stated that these additional services are being arranged to manage the increased passenger demand during the weekend and holiday period, ensuring smoother and more convenient travel across the state.
Passengers are advised to plan their travel in advance and make use of these special services to avoid last-minute congestion.
