Four more airports for Tamil Nadu under the regional scheme
The Central Government has sanctioned money to build airports at Neyveli, Vellore, Ramanathapuram and Thanjavur this year!

On this proposal, the Central Minister of Civil Aviation said in a written reply to a question raised in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, 3rd February that this is a part of  �Udan�, the regional connectivity scheme.

The government has already sanctioned Rs 35 Crores for Salem. |ut of this, Rs. 15.97 Crores have been already spent to create facilities by the Airport Authority of India (AAI). Work is in progress at Velore, Neyveli, and Thanjavur.

In response to a question by P Wilson of the DMK, The Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri informed in a written reply that the Union Government has sanctioned money to develop airports in the State of Tamil Nadu. The reply further informed that 5 airports have been identified under various rounds of bidding under Regional Connectivity Scheme and developed under the revival of Development of airport scheme.
