Egmore Station Suburban Platforms Under Rapid Renovation

Renovation work at the Egmore Railway Station is progressing at a brisk pace as part of a ₹734.91 crore modernization project launched in February 2023 to meet rising passenger demand.
Several upgrades are underway within the station premises, including multi-level parking, a new parcel office, improved entry points, and staff facilities. Renovation of express train platforms has also been carried out, with over 50% of the total work completed so far.
Meanwhile, refurbishment of suburban (electric train) platforms 10 and 11, which began on February 20, is currently in full swing. Officials have stated that the work will be completed by April 5, after which suburban train services will resume from these platforms.
