All meat shops in TN will be closed on 21st October!!

The festival of happiness or deepavali is just around the corner on 20th October. People in Tamil nadu have been gearing up to celebrate this festival with their families and friends etc. Many people have gone to their native places also for deepavali is known. In this scenario, the GCC has announced that the slaughter houses operating under the Public Health Dept would be closed on 21st October on the occasion of Mahavir Nirvana Day.

According to a press release statement all the slaughter houses under the control of the Public Health department (veterinary department) would be closed on 21st of October in view of Mahavir Nirvana day as per the government order or GO. It was also mentioned that all the meat shops that are located within 100m radius from the Jain temples would be closed and meat sale would be banned on that day. It added that all traders are requested to provide their full cooperation in implementing this order.

Important note: 

Mahavir Nirvana day is an important occasion for the Jain community to remember the teachings of Mahavir regarding truth, non-violence and self control etc. On this day, the devotees would observe fast and recite prayers and read Uttaradhyayana Sutra that contains Mahavir`s last recorded sermon.
