NEET 2026: Chennai Suburban Trains to Run on Weekday Schedule for Students' Convenience

To facilitate smooth travel for candidates appearing for the NEET examination, Chennai`s suburban electric train services will operate on a weekday schedule on the exam day, despite it falling on a Sunday.

According to railway authorities, the special arrangement has been made to ensure that students can reach their examination centres conveniently. In addition, dedicated NEET Help Desks have been set up at major railway stations to assist candidates and their parents.

Officials stated that due to ongoing infrastructure and maintenance works at Arakkonam Railway Station, suburban train services between Chennai Central, Chennai Beach, Arakkonam, and Tiruttani will operate according to a temporary revised timetable.

Meanwhile, air-conditioned (AC) suburban train services running on the Chennai Beach–Tambaram route will continue to operate as per the regular Sunday schedule. All other suburban railway routes across Chennai will follow the weekday timetable to accommodate the increased passenger demand expected on the NEET examination day.

The Southern Railway initiative is expected to benefit thousands of students traveling across Chennai and neighbouring districts for the national-level medical entrance examination.
