Tamil Nadu Polls Conclude: Relaxations in Model Code of Conduct, Tight Security for Vote Counting
Following the completion of polling in Tamil Nadu, certain relaxations in the Model Code of Conduct have been announced. With the legislative assembly elections now concluded, enforcement measures such as flying squads and static surveillance teams—initially deployed to curb illegal cash distribution—have been withdrawn.
Election observers are set to verify polling data from all booths to ensure transparency. If any discrepancies are identified, recommendations for re-polling in specific booths may be made. So far, no such necessity has arisen across the state.
A total of 62 counting centers have been established across Tamil Nadu for the upcoming vote counting process. To ensure maximum security, a three-tier protection system involving central armed forces and state police has been put in place, according to the Election Commission of India.
