Chennai: GCC Integrates Metro Water Bill Payments into WhatsApp Chatbot Service

In a major step towards digital governance and citizen convenience, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has integrated the Chennai Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) payment services into its official WhatsApp chatbot platform.

GCC Commissioner G.S. Sameeran announced that Chennai residents can now pay property tax, water tax, and sewerage charges through a single WhatsApp number: 94450 61913.

The GCC had already been offering 42 online services through its website and WhatsApp platform, including birth and death certificate downloads, property tax payments, and grievance registration. With the latest integration, residents can now access Metro Water-related payment services as well.

Through the WhatsApp chatbot, citizens can securely make payments, view billing details, check pending dues, and instantly download official payment receipts. The service is available 24 hours a day, reducing the need for residents to visit government offices for routine transactions.

The Greater Chennai Corporation has urged property owners and residents across the city to make use of the round-the-clock WhatsApp facility and ensure timely payment of taxes and utility bills.
