Chennai Traffic Alert: Diversions on Elephant Gate Road from June 20 for Drain Works

The Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) has announced traffic diversions on Elephant Gate Road from Saturday (June 20) to facilitate storm water drain construction works being carried out by the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC).

According to the traffic advisory, vehicles travelling from Chennai Central and Choolai Roundabout towards Perambur, Vyasarpadi and Pulianthope will be diverted at the Hajj Building Junction via Demellows Road to reach their destinations. These vehicles will not be permitted to use Elephant Gate Road during the work period.

As part of the traffic arrangement, Elephant Gate Road will function as a one-way route for vehicles travelling from Basin Bridge towards Choolai Roundabout and Chennai Central.

Vehicles travelling from Chennai Central and Choolai Roundabout towards Basin Bridge Road should follow the route via Elephant Gate Signal, Elephant Gate New Bridge, Wall Tax Road and Moolakothalam Junction.

Meanwhile, vehicles travelling from Perambur, Vyasarpadi and Pulianthope towards Chennai Central can continue to use their regular route through Pulianthope High Road and Demellows Road.

Motorists are advised to plan their travel accordingly, follow traffic police instructions and expect minor delays in the area until the completion of the storm water drain works.
