Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Several parts of Tamil Nadu experienced intense heat as temperatures touched 104°F (40°C) in multiple districts. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai, dry weather continues to persist, with temperatures remaining 2–3°C above normal levels.

Districts such as Karur, Dharmapuri, and Salem recorded the highest temperature of 104°F, while Madurai, Namakkal, Erode, Coimbatore, and Salem reported slightly lower but still high temperatures of around 102°F.

Rain Forecast Until April 18

Despite the prevailing heatwave, the weather department has predicted light rainfall in isolated places across Tamil Nadu until April 18. The rainfall is likely to occur in:

- Western Ghats districts
- Coastal areas of delta districts
- Ramanathapuram region

Weather System Explanation

A trough at around 0.9 km above sea level extending from southern Assam to south Tamil Nadu passing through Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and interior Karnataka—is influencing this weather change.
