Music Academys 99th Annual Conference and Music Festival to Begin on December 15; A.R. Rahman to Inaugurate

The Music Academy, Chennai, has announced that its 99th Annual Conference and Music Festival will be held from December 15, 2025, to January 1, 2026, at its auditorium on TTK Road, Alwarpet. According to the official press release, the prestigious Margazhi festival will feature daily concerts, lecture demonstrations, and thematic discussions by leading Carnatic musicians and scholars.

A.R. Rahman to Inaugurate the Festival

The festival will be inaugurated on December 15 at 5 PM by world-renowned music composer A.R. Rahman, who will take part as the chief guest for the opening ceremony.

Sangeetha Kalanidhi 2025 Announced

The Academy’s Executive Committee has unanimously selected Carnatic violin maestro R.K. Shriramkumar for the prestigious Sangeetha Kalanidhi Award for 2025.
As the awardee, he will preside over all concerts, conferences, and sessions held during the festival from December 15 to January 1.

Valedictory Event on January 1

The festival will conclude with the traditional Sadas on January 1, 2026.
Dr. N. Rajam, former Professor and Head of the Department of Music at Banaras Hindu University, will attend as the chief guest and present the Academy’s awards, including:

- Sangeetha Kalanidhi

- Sangeetha Acharya

- TTK Music Scholar Award

These honours will be presented to the artists selected for the 2025 award cycle.
