Chennai Election 2026: Public Can Report Complaints to Observers in 16 Constituencies

Residents of Chennai can now directly report election-related complaints to appointed Election Observers across all 16 Assembly constituencies, either in person or via phone, according to District Election Officer and Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner J. Kumaragurubaran.

The Election Commission of India issued the official notification for the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026 on March 15. Following this, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect across the state.

Chennai Voter Strength Crosses 28 Lakh

As part of election preparations, authorities have made extensive arrangements across Chennai.

Total voters: 28,30,936
Male voters: 13,65,763
Female voters: 14,64,344
Third gender voters: 829

To facilitate smooth voting, a total of 4,085 polling stations have been established across 978 locations in the city.

Each constituency is being managed by a dedicated team, including a Returning Officer, Assistant Returning Officer, and Additional Assistant Returning Officer.

Complaint Mechanism for Voters

To ensure free and fair elections, Election Observers have been deployed in all constituencies. Citizens can:

to report issues such as violations of election rules, cash distribution, or misuse of authority.
