Heavy Rain Likely in 5 Tamil Nadu Districts Today; IMD Issues Thunderstorm Alert

Rainfall activity brought relief from the recent heat across several parts of Tamil Nadu on Sunday, with Chennai and many other districts receiving moderate showers. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), the highest rainfall of 5 cm was recorded in Natham, located in Dindigul district.

The weather department has forecast further rainfall across parts of the state today. Heavy rain is likely at isolated places in the hill areas of Coimbatore district, as well as in the districts of Nilgiris, Dindigul, Theni and Sivaganga.

Meteorologists have also warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds ranging between 30 and 40 kmph in these regions. Residents in the affected districts have been advised to remain cautious during periods of intense rainfall and strong winds.

The widespread rainfall is expected to keep temperatures under control and provide much-needed relief from the summer heat in several parts of Tamil Nadu. Weather officials continue to monitor the situation and have urged the public to follow local advisories for updates.
