Tamil Nadu Plus Two Public Exam 2026 Begins Today - 8.27 Lakh Students Appear Across 3,412 Centres

The Tamil Nadu Class 12 (Plus Two) Public Examination 2026 commenced today, March 2, across the state with over 8.27 lakh students appearing for the crucial board exams. Conducted by the Tamil Nadu School Education Department, the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations will continue until March 26.

The exams are being held daily from 10:00 AM to 1:15 PM. On the first day, students are writing Tamil and other language papers.

Total Number of Students Appearing

This year, the examination has witnessed massive participation:

- More than 8 lakh regular students

- 27,783 private candidates

- 281 prison candidates

- Total: 8.27 lakh candidates

To accommodate students, the government has set up 3,412 examination centres across Tamil Nadu.

In Chennai district alone, 67,516 students are appearing for the Plus Two public exam at 250 centres.

Strict Security and Flying Squads Deployed

To ensure fair conduct and prevent malpractice, 4,540 flying squad officials have been deployed statewide. These teams will monitor exam centres through surprise inspections.

All examination halls are equipped with:

- Proper ventilation and lighting

- Drinking water facilities

- Adequate toilet arrangements

Special transport arrangements have also been made to ensure students reach their exam centres on time.
