The Chennai Meteorological Department has forecast the onset of the Northeast Monsoon in Tamil Nadu between October 16 and 18, 2025. Heavy rain is likely around Deepavali, with thunderstorms expected in many districts.
Heavy rain alert today for:
Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Nilgiris, Erode, Theni, Madurai, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Dharmapuri, Salem, and Namakkal.
A cyclonic circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal is causing increased rainfall chances across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
