As voters across Tamil Nadu travel to their hometowns ahead of the April 23 elections, multiple complaints have surfaced regarding private omnibus operators charging excessive fares. In response, the Transport Commissionerate Tamil Nadu has released a list of helpline numbers for passengers to report overcharging and related issues.
To ensure strict enforcement, special teams comprising Regional Transport Officers (RTOs), Motor Vehicle Inspectors, and Transport Checkpost officials have been deployed across the state. Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against violators, including cancellation of permits.
Passengers can register complaints via phone calls, SMS, or WhatsApp, making it easier to report issues in real time during peak travel days.
