Purpose:

The CTP Challan Payment service enables vehicle owners to pay their traffic violation challans online through the e-District/e-Sevai portal. This service is designed for:

- Vehicle owners with pending traffic challans in Chennai
- Drivers who have received traffic violation notices
- Fleet operators managing multiple vehicle challans
- Any individual with an outstanding traffic fine in Chennai jurisdiction

Required Information:

Mandatory Search Criteria:

- Challan Number (unique challan reference number)
- Vehicle Number (registration number of the vehicle)

Special Requirements:

- Valid Challan: Must have an existing, unpaid challan in the system
- Auto-Population: General details and payment details automatically populate upon entering challan and vehicle numbers
- Payment Confirmation: Transaction success message displayed upon completion
- Receipt Generation: Downloadable receipt available after successful payment

Step-by-Step Challan Payment Process:

1. Access the Portal: Go to the [Tamil Nadu e-Sevai Portal](https://tnesevai.tn.gov.in)
2. Login to Account:
- Enter your login credentials (username and password)
- Enter the Captcha code displayed on screen
- Click Login
3. Access Dashboard:
- After successful login, you will be redirected to the e-Sevai Dashboard
4. Navigate to Service:
- Click on Services from the left panel
- Department-wise service listing will appear
- Click on Chennai Traffic Police link
- Alternatively, you can switch to Service Wise listing or use Search to find the service by keywords
5. Select Challan Payment:
- Click on Challan Payment link
- Below screen will be displayed with input fields
6. Enter Challan Details:
- Enter Challan Number in the designated field
- Enter Vehicle Number in the designated field
- Click Fetch Details
7. Review Auto-Populated Information:
- System automatically fetches and displays:
- General Details: Vehicle information, violation details, date of offense, etc.
- Payment Details: Challan amount, penalties, total due amount, etc.
- Verify all fetched details for accuracy
8. Submit Payment:
- Review all detailils carefully
- Click Submit to proceed with payment
- A Transaction Successful message will be displayed upon successful payment
9. Download Receipt:
- Click Print Receipt to download or print the payment receipt
- Save the receipt for future reference and proof of payment

Document/Information Requirements:

- Challan Number (printed on the traffic violation notice)
- Vehicle Registration Number (as per RC book and challan)
- Valid Login Credentials for e-Sevai portal access

Payment Details:

- Payment Amount: As displayed after fetching details (based on violation type)
- Payment Method: Online payment through the integrated gateway
- Transaction Confirmation: System displays success message upon completion

After Submission:

- Transaction Confirmation: Success message confirms payment completion
- Receipt Generation: Printable/downloadable receipt available immediately
- Challan Closure: The challan is marked as paid in the Traffic Police system
- Record Update: Payment record is updated in the database

Important Notes:

- Valid Credentials: User must have valid username and password to access the portal
- Mandatory Fields: Challan Number and Vehicle Number are mandatory and cannot be left blank
- Correct Entries: Make relevant and correct entries only to ensure proper fetching of details
