Vaigai Express Delayed by 45 Minutes in Chennai on April 14 - Passengers Affected
Passengers traveling from Chennai to Madurai experienced delays as the Vaigai Express (Train No. 12635) was delayed by around 45 minutes on April 14, 2026.
The train, which departs daily from Chennai Egmore, was affected due to ongoing track maintenance work near the station and surrounding railway routes.
Earlier, the same train faced a delay of nearly one hour on April 12 due to maintenance activities. Services were again impacted on April 13, causing inconvenience to passengers.
On April 14, railway officials managed to reduce the delay to 45 minutes, though passengers still faced difficulties due to crowding at the station.
Large numbers of passengers gathered at platforms 10 and 11 at Chennai Egmore, especially due to increased travel during the Tamil New Year period. Some passengers reported a lack of timely information regarding the delay.
Railway authorities stated that the maintenance work is necessary to ensure safe train operations and that steps are being taken to reduce delays in the future.
